Thank you to everyone who made this such a memorable evening.

78 people at the splendid setting of the Canford Magna Golf Club on Thursday the 10th of April enjoyed an excellent 3-course meal with complimentary drink.

Tom Henderson sent a personal video message to Brian and the Wimborne Rotary thanking us for the work we have done. Although Tom Henderson was not able to attend, Ian Munday and his wife Jo proved to be an excellent and worthy replacement. Ian was totally dedicated to the Shelter Box Project: something that came over in his presentation which featured pictures taken from all over the world where the shelter boxes have been sent to aid people in disaster areas.

Ian and Jo have visited many countries and it is amazing to think that a club the same size as ours can manage such a successful international project. Ian presented Brian with a book, 'Aftershock' which collects photographs from the Disasters between the Asian Tsunami to the Lebanon Conflict 2005- 2006. By the evening of the event we had sent money for 23 boxes and now have a cheque for a further 4. We will be presenting this on our visit to the Helston Shelter Box Headquarters where Ian and Jo will take us on a tour of the facilities.

This will not bring our fundraising to a close; we still have the Mayor's Charity money to come in. This donation alone will hopefully bring our total boxes up to 29.

The evening ended with a total surprise for us when David Meaden spoke on the work that we had done and President Peter presented us both with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Thank you both, David and Peter.

It was just over a year ago that Brian presented this project to council where President Mike and incoming President Peter agreed to support it for the year.

To think, our aim was 10 boxes!

We would like to thank: Mike and Peter for agreeing to this, Our loyal committee of Bryan Hoile, Arthur Moseley, Howard Smith, Rex Hurdle, Rosemary & Steve Protheroe and Chris Slocock. We couldn't have done it without them.
David took charge of the money while Chris Slocock & Partners helped with the publicity.

We will still be supporting Shelter Box as a Rotary Charity as there are still donations coming in.
